I bought a baby ball python for $100 this week and it climbed into the dash of my car. It’s been in there since tuesday and I don’t want it to die but I can’t get the dash apart. If you can (competently) take the dash apart to get him out and put it back together then you can have him for free. I will need to copy your ID first (just so I don’t get someone tearing my car apart and leaving). It’s a 2000 Buick Lesabre if that helps. Will be at work tonight from 11pm to 7am on the corner of Washington Center and Lima if you’d like to do it in the parking lot.

Festering disease catches up with you. Whether it be  in a relationship, your own health, or budget deficits–if you don’t pay attention to the problem you end up with gangrene.

Governmental waste and the habit of ignoring problems have become too typical of  governmental leadership by unqualified, hyped-politicians who were elected because of momentum and not because of substance. We are now seeing the effects of allowing overspending to maturate.

In today’s New York Times article , discussing the Kansas City School system’s decision to close over 2 dozen schools, they cite the growing problem of ignoring the money issue in government:

The sudden move suggests a depth of dysfunction here that is rarely associated with Kansas City, a lively heartland town with a reputation for order. But a closer look at the school board’s recent history reveals a chaotic, almost nonfunctioning body that put off making tough choices and even routine improvements for generations. Experts said that in the board’s years of inaction is a cautionary tale for school districts everywhere.

Where is government oversight? With the people. It should have been. It should be.

“This is extraordinary,” said Jack Jennings, president of the Center on Education Policy, a research group in Washington. “The school board was dysfunctional for years. There was very poor governance for a long period of time, and it was like a revolving door with superintendents.”

In Fort Wayne, Indiana, just a couple of schools face this dilemma. Elmhurst High School in Fort Wayne facing closure due to budgetary constraints on the district.  With all of it’s failings, at least the Fort Wayne Community Schools is addressing a problem before more than a couple have to be dismantled.

Detroit’s blight can be blamed on the same disease…Gangrene Government.

How do you fix gangrene?

Urgent evaluation and treatment. In general, dead tissue should be removed to allow healing of the surrounding living tissue and prevent further infection. Depending on the area that has the gangrene, the person’s overall condition, and the cause of the gangrene, treatment may include:

• Amputating the body part that has gangrene (get rid of the board responsible for overspending)
• An emergency operation to find and remove dead tissue (budget cuts)
• An operation to improve blood supply to the area (new plan of action)
• Repeated operations to remove dead tissue (debridement) (don’t let go of the problem)
• Treatment in the intensive care unit (for severely ill patients) (prosecute)

This is one disease Indiana State Government is not in danger of having, so long as they stay fiscally conservative and continue with attention to details of the budget constraints. The Democrats in Washington should pay attention to our scenario instead of coming up with more massive gangrene spending.

A conservative contender running under the GOP ticket? Hardly. But that’s what Adam Kokesh has become. Why hardly?

If you meet Kokesh he’s likely to have his shirtsleeves rolled-up revealing tattoos. On one forearm it says USMC, and on the other, IVAW, which stands for Iraq Veterans Against the War. IVAW has issued bomb threats against the Gathering of Eagles and even threatened to assassinate Michelle Malkin.

In the past, Kokesh has handed out extremely hostile flyers on the George Washington University campus against Muslims. The flyers were made to appear they were the work of the Young America’s Foundation. When Kokesh appeared at protests, he was always wearing his Marine Corps. uniform. He’s been arrested for defacing public property, and has appeared at protests in Germany trying to convince American soldiers to go AWOL. When he was contacted by a Marine Corps major about wearing the uniform during the protests, Kokesh responded by telling the Major to “please, kindly, go fsck yourself.” His affiliations also include the Marxist and liberal groups C.O.D.E. Pink and A.N.S.W.E.R.

His fund raising gimmick is a silver coin with his face engraved on it. It’ll cost you $50. Melt it down and it might bring you $15. The coin is produced by a Texas company called the American Open Currency Standard which thinks we all should be hoarding precious metals because the dollar will soon collapse. Kokesh’s campaign signage and banners include the Ron Paul “R3VOLution” slogan.

Kokesh belongs to a group called the “liberty candidates,” part of the anti-government Tea Party who are running as Republicans. With his Ron Paul endorsement and backing of the tea party groups Republican Liberty Caucus and the 912 Project, he’s making waves as a frustrated conservative and actually raising money. The Republican Liberty Caucus is a group of disgruntled Ron Paulies that think the Tea Party has been hijacked. I’ve written before about the fringe elements within the Tea Party movement. In New Mexico the fringe is not the minority.

In my opinion, he’s a disgrace. Not only as a so-called constitutional conservative, but as a former Marine and as an American.

The “real” conservative running in the New Mexico District 3 race is Tom Mullins. Click on his name and go give him a few bucks.

he Fort Wayne City Council officially rejected a proposed ordinance last night which would have granted special behavior-based protections to people with gender identity disorders. The ordinance was a defeat for cross dressers, homosexuals and transgender activists seeking governmental endorsement of their chosen identity and actions.

(People are generally free to do as they please in private, but expecting the government to publicly applaud their unusual sexual decisions with legislation goes too far.)

Three weeks ago the Council refused to even debate the ordinance which was brought up for discussion by its author, Councilor Karen Goldner. Several homosexual activist groups outside of Fort Wayne had been pushing the ordinance. In fact, Indiana Equality in Indianapolis has received large contributions from leftist groups like the George Soros funded Tides Foundation and the Gill Foundation led by homosexual activist billionaire Tim Gill of Colorado specifically to promote these kinds of radical city ordinances throughout Indiana.

The ordinance raised a lot of controversy and concern from citizens and business owners about the problems men dressed as women in the workplace, or in a fitness center locker room or in a public restroom could cause if the city tried to force public accommodation of an extreme fringe group’s behavior.

Goldner reintroduced her ordinance last night after homosexual groups across the state had poured e-mails into the council over the weekend calling for the council to support their political demands. Thankfully, the council knew that there were far more important issues facing Indiana’s second largest city. The ordinance was quickly rejected on a 5-4 vote with all five Republicans voting “no” and the four Democrat councilors voting “yes”.

AFA of Indiana helped provide information to the council about what “gender identity” and homosexual behavior-based ordinances really mean and how they can threaten the rights of business owners, parents, children and religious freedoms. However, it was the action of local Fort Wayne residents expressing their concerns to the council and showing up at the hearings that really defeated the controversial ordinance. Thank you to all those in Fort Wayne who spoke up and took a stand for common sense and good governance by opposing this far left political effort in a town that has often been called “the city of churches.”

Sex can be very, very divisive. It certainly was at council last night. Just ask Councilman Tom Smith how it felt to be personally attacked for a rude and insensitive statement he is alleged to have made. Just ask the dozens of young people who showed up to lobby for “their rights.” Just ask the score or so who were there to rail against “those people.” Just ask the rest of council all of whom who sat through forty long, long minutes of contentious arguments from both sides. It was an impassioned evening that can be described as sad.

Karen Goldner tried again, the second time, to introduce an ordinance which would have given certain protections to members of the gay-lesbian-transgender community of which she is a member and an advocate. But, introduction of the ordinance failed by a four to five vote. The Democrats voted in favor, the Republicans voted against it. Glynn Hines, the lone Black council member, gave a speech in favor in which he cited being the butt of racism as a kid. Tom Didier gave a speech against the measure in which he tried to explain as a kid he, too, had been called a “fag” and understood the suffering of the gays, but would not support them. “I’m one of you, I feel your pain, but get over it, move on,” was his mantra. Tim Pape lamented the “bigotry” expressed in emails that he had received concerning the measure and asked if we could not rise above the invective. He wondered how the community would react to see those many emails published on line.

The most dramatic and difficult moment came when a distraught supporter of the bill, a young man, loudly accused Tom Smith of having unfavorably compared gays-lesbians-transgenders to “dog shit.” He repeated the comment more than once, loudly, and it took council President Marty Bender painfully long to curtail the outburst. No council members came to the defense of Mr. Smith. None. Only Mr. Bender’s gavel eventually restored a measure of decorum.

There were other speakers, some who ridiculed the gays, some who thumped the Bible, some who envisioned snarling the courts in frivolous suits, some who challenged Fort Wayne to be a more accepting, open place. One young man, a Girardot, reminded most in the audience that we are all very closely linked in Fort Wayne as he ticked off the many occupations of his family and cousins in his “big, Catholic family.” He introduced his father who has a long record of productivity in Fort Wayne as a construction manager who sat in his wheelchair nearby in support of his gay son. One degree of separation in Fort Wayne, everybody knows everybody here. His point: it is not we-they, it is us.

John Crawford, however, may have been, for many the most interesting speaker and not necessarily for what he said, simply that he was there. Crawford is strong, intelligent and forceful man. Some love him, some revile him for his stewardship of the anti-smoking ordinance. Whether he will try to regain a seat on council or whether he will run for the Republican nomination for mayor is the question. His presence reminded the politicians there last night of that. He lives, by the way, in Mr. Smith’s district.

So, Mitch Harper tried to show respect for everyone last night in a variety of ways. He expressed concerns about the ordinance as presented, but noted that other cities had successfully created legislation that had protected gays-lesbians-transgenders from wanton abuse, but had managed not to burden business nor the courts. Mr. Pape loved the comment and all but announced the formation of the Harper-Goldner Commission to craft a better bill. Mr. Harper certainly spoke with dignity and respect for all last night and has the legislative experience to manage the division that was deep and passionate.

There were other matters on the agenda and forcing the hundred or so citizens in the room to sit through the discussions was probably beneficial for all, a civics lesson. They learned about sewer interceptors, amendments to development plans and about tax abatements. The later matter turned into a fencing match between Councilman Pape and Councilwoman Brown.

In receiving tax abatements companies are required to report annually their progress toward fulfilling their side of the bargain. They pay fewer taxes but promise to create jobs in return. Last year a few businesses failed to turn in reports on time, some for good reasons, some for technical reasons. Fort Wayne Newspapers was the poster boy. They all then sought waivers and all were granted. Alyssa McGauley, the program manager, explained that despite extensive “hand-holding” some companies simply fail to keep their end of the bargain. Mrs. Brown last night asked Mrs. McGauley if the current ordinance has the teeth necessary to encourage better compliance, or to penalize indifference. Tim Pape shot back that Mrs. Brown’s question was not germane to the discussion, but Mrs. Brown was allowed to continue by President Bender. Mrs. McGauley laughed a bit and then tried to answer the question. Essentially, “no.” Later, Mr. Pape and Mrs. Brown tangled again over the same matter, Mrs. Brown, the Republican, the party purportedly pro-business, demanding a new law to penalize businesses for failing in their obligations; Mr. Pape, the Democrat, long the party critical of business excesses, sounding every bit the public relations consultant for the Chamber of Commerce in defending businesses and noting the great contributions made and the very abuses reported.

It was an interesting meeting, probably the most lively since the budget fights in November. One interesting matter that will require further discussion is the question of emails.

A council member noted that hundreds and hundreds of emails had been sent his way during the course of the debate. Tim Pape wondered what the community would think if the emails were to be posted on the web for all to see. They should, in fact, they are part of the public record and should be displayed. Perhaps a public airing of one’s thoughts might prompt one to be more careful in their expression. Last night’s meeting could have benefited from more thoughtful expression.

The word “transgender” is a bit of a misnomer to me. I suppose if someone is so confused about who they are and drop $20,000 having their Tallywacker sliced, diced and shoved inside of them, sure, we’ll call you transgendered. If you just have a fetish for dressing in woman’s clothing, (read:editor of local rag), you don’t count. You’re simply a goofball with a nasty fetish.

At the end of the day, men that want to wear panties, rouge and lipstick are not going to go inside the same restroom as someone’s daughters without running the risk a severe ass whoopin’ from a nearby parent. Goldner’s position on this is is patently ridiculous. She says that most restrooms have stalls for privacy. Sorry Karen, that’s just a stupid remark.

If Goldner’s ordinance passes, it will only exasperate the gay community and move them to shove more of this down your throats, (no pun intended), as illustrated below.

‘Biology-based’ restrooms called ‘discrimination’ ‘Schools therefore cannot segregate students based on sexual orientation’

AUGUSTA, Maine — A lawyer for the Maine Human Rights Commission ( A Gay Rights Lobby Group) told members of the state board today that requiring all students to use “biology-based” (aka what we call Traditional Normal Boys Bathrooms for Boys & Girl Bathrooms for Girls…Only) restrooms and locker rooms in the state’s schools is illegal and cannot be allowed to continue.

“Schools cannot discriminate against sexual identity or gender identification. Schools therefore cannot segregate students based on sexual orientation and identity,” commission legal counsel John Gause said at today’s commission meeting, where he was unsuccessful in convincing the board to adopt immediately a set of recommendations.

The commission’s vote was 4-1 to hold a public hearing on the adoption of guidelines that would allow biological males to play on girls’ athletic teams and use girls’ restrooms and locker rooms if they proclaim their gender identity is female.

The parade of people that Goldner brought before city council last time was like a crossdresser’s convention, with most of them coming from Indianapolis. One of them is a Mr. Benge, from Indianapolis, who is president of Indiana Transgender Rights Advocacy Alliance. Goldner is an avowed lesbian, and this is nothing more than playing to her base. We really don’t care what crossdressers from Indianapolis have to say. This is our town, go away.

Goldner has offered nothing in the way of evidence that this type of discrimination exists in Fort Wayne. Well on second thought, maybe we should think about that for a moment. If you saw the guy pictured below shopping at Meijer’s for panty hose, how in the hell could you not laugh at him? Would that be considered harassment and/or discrimination?

Goldner’s ordinance is unenforceable by law, and it addresses a problem that doesn’t exist.

I’d invite those that oppose this to show up at the city council meeting tonight.

Attorney General Greg Zoeller: “I think what Sen. Coats brings to the race is just a different level of experience. It’s really a different level of candidacy.” (Politico, 2/13/10)

These are both accurate quotes. However, neither one of them have endorsed Coats’ as a candidate. As a matter of fact, Daniels actually had this to say about the senate race on Politico only days before.

“I have never involved myself in primaries, and I won’t in this one,” Daniels said when asked if he planned to endorse the frontrunner, former Sen. Dan Coats.
