ANIMAL rights groups are up in arms over an annual festival in Peru that serves up hundreds of fried CATS to locals.
The ‘Gastronomical Festival of the Cat’ – dubbed the ‘Massacre of the Moggies’ – sees townsfolk in Canete, near Lima, feast on the fluffy pets for two days.

They believe that eating cat burgers – and fried cat legs and tails – can cure bronchial disease.
It is also believed that feline meat serves as an aphrodisiac.
The cats are bred especially for this festival – which takes place at the end of September on the Day of Santa Ifigenia.

Sleeping man beheaded on Greyhound bus
TV: Passenger killed by seatmate with ‘Rambo knife’ in Canada’s prairies

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - A passenger sleeping on a Greyhound bus was killed and decapitated by his seatmate on Wednesday night as the vehicle rolled across the Canadian prairies, witnesses said.

“All of a sudden, we all heard this scream, this bloodcurdling scream,” said Garnet Caton, who was sitting just in front of the victim, in an interview with CBC Television.

“The attacker was standing up right over top of the guy with a large hunting knife — a survival, Rambo knife — holding the guy and continually stabbing him, stabbing him, stabbing him in the chest area,” Caton said.

“He calmly walks up to the front (of the bus) with the head in his hand and the knife and just calmly stares at us and drops the head right in front of us,” Caton said.

“There was no rage in him … It was just like he was a robot or something,” Caton said.

LEO, Ind. (WANE) — An officer with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department thought he’d only have to remove about 40 cats from a condemned home in Leo. Instead he found 212.

On July 23, Officer David Baber went to the home located at 15217 Amstutz Road.   The home had been condemned by the Allen County Building Department at the request of the Fort Wayne - Allen County Department of Health.  The day before, an inspection of the home found feces scattered throughout and there was a strong smell of ammonia. 

After more than 40 cats were removed, the homeowner told Officer Baber that she had miscalculated the number and she was really unsure how many cats were inside.  The homeowner said that about two and a half years ago, there were just a male cat and two females.   She told Officer Baber that all of the cats in the home were descendents of those three cats. 

When all of the cats were rounded up, 206 were taken to the animal shelter, five cats were allowed to leave with the homeowner and one cat escaped after scratching Officer Baber.

A 13-year old boy and a 16-year old girl had been living in the home.

I cannot believe they let this obviously crazy woman keep the cats, and what about the children? Now she has enough cats to breed a couple hundred more.

All of the 206 cats taken to the animal shelter were euthanized.  Peggy Bender with the Fort Wayne Department of Animal Care and Control said the animals were not fit for adoption and could not be rehabilitated.
