NEW YORK — Mexico said Monday the number of people who have died from swine flu may be as many a 149. The Mexican government said it would close schools until May 6 as a precaution.
Meanwhile, officials from New York state have confirmed 20 more cases of swine flu, bringing the confirmed total up to 28. The state is watching another 17 possible cases. More [here ].
New Yorkers may want to remember that their Democratic Senator Charles Schumer has this to say about the recent porkulus bill.
From the New York Post:
“All those little porky things that the House put in, the money for the [National] Mall or the sexually transmitted diseases or the flu pandemic, they’re all out,” Schumer said.
Ah, someone get that man a pork chop.

GOP Wields More Influence Over the Stimulus Bill – The Wall Street Journal
“…After meeting with Mr. Obama, Sen. Collins (R-ME) expressed concern about a number of spending provisions, including $780 million for pandemic-flu preparedness. “I have no doubt that the president is willing to negotiate in good faith, that he wants to have a bipartisan bill,” Sen. Collins said.”
Oh Dan,
You would be furious even if he voted the other way! But so politics goes…
Charles
Gee, Dan…something made me really laugh about this, and I don’t mean to lessen the global impact of such a pandemic, or the effects it “could” have on people (and the economies) of most all nations…BUT, conside the following:
With all the stimulus bill PORK abounding in the last (near) 100 days, what ELSE could we expect but SWINE FLU…
Somehow the word “IRONY” comes to mind.
