Ed Rousseau, a longtime Allen County office holder who spent the majority of his adult life in an elected office has died.

For years, Rousseau was considered the Allen County commissioner to be reckoned with.

Rousseau, a Republican, played a major role in several of the county’s biggest undertakings, including establishing the income tax and bringing GM to Fort Wayne and the renovation and expansion of Memorial Coliseum.

    Ed’s passing is a huge loss to our community. He was a hard working Commissioner that always was willing to fight for what he believed to be the best for Allen County. He loved his wife and children and would always be willing to share a witty store involving them. I know he is in a better place but I will miss him.

    Ed was a true leader, always willing to help, gave valuable insight, and could explain his point of view in a gentlemanly way. His guidance and loyalty to the GOP will be missed.
