Who to support, that is the big question. Read between the lines.

My phone has been ringing fairly constantly over the last two weeks regarding the GOP chairman’s race. It’s included calls from the right-wing, kook-fringe, disenfranchised Kelty-ites, to the more moderate Shine supporting wing of the party, as well as those that may consider themselves on the more “conservative side” of issues.

For the record, I’ve not been involved in giving political or campaign advice in the past, but have worked at the grass-root level on a few campaigns.

When someone calls me looking for advice, I rarely turn them down, even if it’s my ex-wife. I’m usually someone that will listen more than talk, and offer an opinion or advice if that’s what is being sought. For some reason, I’ve gotten a lot of that lately.

As a matter of fact, I was in between a flurry of phone calls a couple of nights ago when my phone rang and I thought it was one person, when in fact it was another. I immediately started to tell this person things that I should have been telling the other person. DOH!

Without going into detail, this person said, “I didn’t think you were supporting” so and so. I said, “I’m didn’t say I was”. It was an awkward moment and I was caught off-guard. The call ended immediately.

So now this person is showing a lack of social reserve and is running all over town telling people I support so and so, when in fact I told him I never said that. He’s being overly presumptuous based on the fact I was giving advice. There’s a big difference between giving advice and endorsing someone. This person in fact has told me on several occasions that “the other guy” needs to be replaced, doesn’t know what being a grass-root chair is all about, etc.

For those that read this blog that may have heard this, I thought you ought to know.

Not that it will have any influence, but my official endorsement will appear within the next couple of days.

im a right wing kook fringe huh? whats that make you a mccain supporter? its pretty sad when conservatives start name calling each other. the problem with shine is he has caused this riff that you demonstrate quite well.

I don’t know who you are Zeak, and I didn’t specifically point fingers at anyone personally.

There is however a kook-fringe out there which includes the Hoots and Glenna Jehl, et al, among others. They’re very adept at putting up walls. We don’t need anymore walls within the party.

Keep in mind I supported Matt through this with great vigor. Drop me an email if you want. It will be confidential and maybe we can discuss in further detail, if you dare. :)

I think the vote should be none of the above, on one side you have someone with a tattered past and on the other side you have someone that was never involved with the local Republican Party and now he thinks he can run it. The person you know or the one you don’t. We might end up with a local Obama type.
