You have my sympathies regarding your loss, but lethal force is only legal to protect human life. Set up a camera instead.
Personally, I think the sign is kind of cool…

Robert, you are correct. But Dan can employ his freedom of speech to confront the perpetrator(s). He can even opine about their mother if he wishes. And if they get so angry that they take a swing at him…

Well I think Dan screwed up big time….
Dan assumed the people stealing the signs could read, let alone understand what the words spell out.

I agree that those that stole the sign probably couldn’t read (and most likely don’t work), but perhaps they were told to abscond with the sign based on a philosophical construct I like to call:
“THE CANDY-LAND PRINCIPLE”
(If’ it’s BLUE and doesn’t begin with a “CIRCLE”…STEAL it or deface it)
