Stupid or ignorant? Joe who? Judge Judy, yeah, I know her.
Posted by: AWB in 2008 Presidential RaceI talked with an Obama supporter last night. I had never met this person before. I asked her why she was supporting Obama. Her answer, “because he’s for change”. I asked her just exactly what “changes” he had promised that she liked, and she could not definitively answer the question.
I spent the next half hour or so discussing some of the differences between Obama’s empty-suit promises and McCain’s positions. In the end, I think I may have made a difference. I expect today she’s online looking up the facts for herself.

I am thoroughly disgusted with the Obama campaign. There are dozens of unanswered questions about The One, and yet the only question worthy of examination is a plumber from Ohio. Even there, the important thing is not the person who asked the question, it is the answer that was given. Discredit the ‘asker’ and the ‘answerers’ answer still stands on its own merit.
Obama will destroy this country. That is the CHANGE we shall expect.
I recently submitted this to letters to the editor of both Fort Wayne papers:
I have heard a lot of people talk about “change” and about a candidate “not being President Bush”. If you look at this logically you begin to realize that a lot of things are not the Bush Presidency. During a recent rally in St. Louis, Barack Obama had told a story about meeting a restaurant owner in Georgetown, Ohio who was a die-hard republican. He told the owner “Why don’t you vote for a Democrat this time. We can’t do any worse than (the Republicans) have.”
The history of the last century has taught us that not all change is good. There are several instances where countries voted or endorsed change and it became the worst change in the history of the world. Two, specifically, stand out. In the 1920’s Germany was suffering from a poor economy and the remnants of World War I. Many people were out of work and starving. As a result they began to support the German Workers’ Party. This party believed that Social Welfare was the business of the government. This party would later become known as the Nazi Party.
The second example is from Russia. In the year 1917 Russia was suffering from a poor economy and many people were starving. As a result of this many people allied themselves with the Bolsheviks and brought about the October Revolution of 1917. The Bolsheviks would later become the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
I am not implying that either candidate is a Nazi or a Communist, but Obama has himself spoken some things that are blatantly socialist. His recent remarks to “Joe the Plumber” about “spreading the wealth around” sounds a lot like the words of Karl Marx.
There is a quote that has been attributed to Alexander Tytler that says “A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy.”
History has shown us that when a country gets to the point where people endorse an individual or individuals that gives the most handouts, that country is doomed to failure. I don’t agree with all of President Bush’s policies and decisions, but he has at least held up the principles that has made this country last for 200+ years. When you go vote, make sure the “change” you vote for is the right one and make sure you vote FOR something and not against something.
