Under the plea deal, Kelty will avoid serving jail time.

I’ll have more later

  1. He and his family are still in my thoughts & prayers.

  2. Its good to see he will be able to stay in his kids lives.

He can still be with his family AND he can still vote as an Indiana citizen . . .

  4. Your story says “Kelty pleaded to two felony counts”- but shouldn’t it read that he plead guilty? Isn’t guilty the important part of this? Of course he plead, anyone with a court case is required to plead one way or another……..it just so happens that Kelty strung this out for 14 months and took money from contributors, only to plead guilty at the very last min. What a fraud he is.

Thank goodness he can never seek any kind of political office again! If that wasn’t included as part of the sentencing, I bet he’d be stupid enough to try it again.

I have no clue as to what came out in the emails and what caused this change. My guess is Matt has jumped on the gernade to save some others. Being the guy who signed his name to the forms he is the one that must pay the price. My guess is some people working for him rolled the gernade into the room.

Why has his treasure not been looked at? He is the guy who kept the financial records, had worked on a number of other campaigns as treasure, and knows the campaign laws much better then Matt ever did. Who else played a roll in this mess that has destroyed Matt’s public and financial life?

It is fine if Matt wants to throw his body on the gernade but as a voter I have the right to know the details of who rolled the gernade into the room. One would think the judge would want to know the details, in pubic, before accepting the deal.

I continue to believe in Matt. I will always say HI to him when I see him. I will not shun him. He is a good man to a fault and that fault has cost him dearly. But Matt is a good man and always will.

I hope Kenny over at Liberty Const. and Allen McComb at McCombs & Son are proud of themselves. They rooted this evil out. In the mean time Kenny is lining his pocket by his own shady deals.

I invite the readers to go out by Maplecrest & 469. Look at the const. going on for the new retirement home. Liberty Const. is doing all the land prep work their. They have dug huge ponds for the property and raised then “high ground” six to seven feet. They have made a massive changes is the drainage area that will effect a number of private residents homes. Flooding of their yards is not if, but just when.

Streets will be six to ten feet higher then the former farmland was prior to this devel.

The biggest crook is still walking free and making money off of his votes. Don’t try to con me into beliving he votes on issues having no idea he was going to get the work. I may be dumb but I am not stupid.

  6. Now everyone is talking about the American economy and eclections, nice to read something different. Eugene

I was just over to the Journal and read the “emails” that came to light today… Much like I stated last summer that Don Willis was the real money in the deal. That Fred Rost was a middle “bag” man.

As I stated before someone rolled a gernade into the room and it turns out at least Glenna and Fred did it. What is missing is who played the games prior to the “cover up” being started?

As I stated last summer Don Willis and his puppet Rost blew up Kelty by their games. I hope the Sigler keeps digging. Rost and maybe Gleena are masterminds to the coverup.

I still wonder what got into Matt’s head that this was right? Was he to loyal to those who harmed him? He was warned many times by many of us to get rid of the cancers in his operation but he elected not to. That is so sad and now he is paying the price.

I hope Willis, Rost, and Glenna are enjoying themselves tonight. They destroyed a good man and took advantage of him of his being loyal to those who where more worried about thier own butts then anyone else.

One has to wonder who gave up the emails? Was it Rost to save his butt? Was it Glenna to save her butt?

Sadly it is the same story of follow the money!

  8. This is a crock …Let’s investigate the bigger Fish.

Mr. Mayor better be very careful. The bull is not going to fly in the City any longer. There is enough going on that needs investigating.
    Get the Budget under Control.

  9. I will continue to keep the Kelty family in my prayers. I understand the plea agreement decision. I understand the long sleepless nights it took to get to this point. As far as a trial goes, you are taking a 50/50 gamble on a lot of outside influences that cannot be controlled. Your fate basically lays in the hands of strangers who just might be mostly influenced by which ever way the wind is blowing that day.

I can imagine the agonizing thoughts of dragging your wife and children and other family members through the entire ordeal. A trial could have gone either way and I am sure everyone involved in this decision was aware of that possibility. With the gamble of it going the wrong way, how high was the cost to find out? The price was too high.

The legal system has jaded me for many reasons, but the entire Kelty situation sealed the deal for me. To watch a man’s life destroyed by what was originally an honest mistake that snowballed out of control. The saddest part now is the people who are taking utter delight in this end result.

  10. TiredoldTrooper says:

    I love Lucy!

Kelty goes to the Bench. Pleads GUILTY and it’s an “honest mistake’?

Lucy, Lucy, Lucy! He LIED to a Grand Jury!

True, he had a lot of help from people that wanted to profit from his election.
They as J.Q. says, “rolled the grenade”.

Now…. if these folks want to really help out Matt Kelty… PAY HIS LEGAL FEES! Stop blaming the legal system.

And, for those that might “take delight” in this situation, ‘Be careful what you wish for. You might get it’!

  11. I agree with Mr. Taxpayer. I hope Mr. Willis has sleepless nights and horrible nightmares for a long time. He is a wolf in sheeps clothing. A man with integrity he is not and I wonder how on earth he can put on the “do good” mask every day.

Why weren’t more people questioned in all of this? Why was Matt Kelty the only one who was charged? He wasn’t IN CHARGE of the finances. Someone else was. Why wasn’t that person charged? Nothing against Matt, but why didn’t HE question things? Or I guess a better way to put things is, that he probably did and he was just told everything was fine. Geez. How sad. Hope your happy Mr. Willis. Keep telling everyone you have millions and youre putting it to good use.

In the words of Justin Timberlake.. “What goes around comes back around….”

  12. Sheri Rouse says:

I have decided through all this that Kelty was a pawn, a good man who was given bad, bad advice. Jehl and Rost were definitely complicit in attempting to cover this up and now they have ruined this man and any further bids he could make to run for office in a city he obviously loves. The emails shocked me and I would love to know who turned them over.

I feel for Matt and his family.

  13. Matt Kelty was not a pawn and he did not follow advice. The poll should not have been claimed as an in-kind contribution. He should have plead this out early summer. He has extended this painful thing out far too long to the detriment of his family.

  14. Josh, Do you know something the rest of us don’t?

  15. Yes, I am part of the secret conspiracy that caused Matt Kelty to lie under oath to the Grand Jury. We brainwashed him.

  16. So am I, Outsider. We’re both card carrying members of the Secret Squirrel Society. Time to stock up on tin foil.

Where did Glenna’s post go anyway?????

  17. Thanks for your credentials.

I’ll give your remarks the credability they deserve then.

  18. I am glad to see that people are starting to catch on to the true Don Willis. As Janie says, ‘He is a wolf in sheeps clothing. A man with integrity he is not and I wonder how on earth he can put on the “do good” mask every day.’

I moved away from FWA in 2006, but the second I heard about Kelty being investigated for campaign finance filings, I knew that Don Willis would be involved. If Willis really only contributed money for the poll because he opposed the money being spent on Harrison Square, then why did he insist that his contribution remain anonymous? When else did Don Willis not want the public to see where his money goes? It certainly wasn’t when he bought his way onto the Philharmonic! And the lame excuse that it was because he supported Nelson Peters is equally laughable. I hope that the prosecutors will continue to investigate Willis and disclose him for who he really is. Until then, beware! I’m sure he has several other ‘cumming schemes’ up his sleeve to unleash on FWA.
