U.S. Rep. Mark Souder released the following statement today, after he voted for House passage of H.R. 1424. The bill passed the House by a bipartisan majority of 263-171.

“This bill is not the bill that I or other Republicans would have chosen, but with a Democrat-controlled Congress, any bill must be a compromise. Possible failure of our economy was not an option.”

Sorry Dan I just can not buy Souder any longer. I was a bigg supporter of his during his first years. I worked on his first two campaigns. Then he slowly became more and more “Washington” like!

You look at what other Congressman have done, with the same number of years service. He has sadly not delivered. He carries no real weight in Washington today, for whatever reason.

While I know you enjoy “poke in the eye” actions I adhore it when it comes to attacks on a person’s core values. I feel he did that against Tom Hayhurst and for that reason I voted against Souder. I may disagree with a person’s stand but I try, and I do fail at times, as to not to attack the person.

Dan & all: Welcome to the “Disunited Socialistic States of America”. A totally gut-less (I want to get reelected to the cushiest job in the world any way I can do it) Mark Souder needs to be “putout to pasture” in rural Grabill as soon as possible - hopefully in about 3-1/2 weeks - even tho his opponent is a member of the “more liberal” party, I am now convinced that he is to the extreme right of Souder. I feel so strong about this that I am willing to give up my position as a vice committee person to accomplish this defeat.
To Mark - Just retire - You have the best retirement payoff possible and you no longer represent the Republican party - so get out!

  3. Whats wrong people, didn’t he talk down to you enough on pat white to make you realize you (the little people) should shut up and just let him do his job. After all he knows best. Your just a bunch of hicks from the midwest.

My only question is who are we writing in. There is no one left after all the established republicans ran from office after harrison square.

Anyone think we can get kelty to do it.

  4. …Only if it will call off Matt’s “Witch Hunt”…!

    AWB for Congress!
“Sure he might piss you off…but he’s RIGHT!”
    (in more ways than one)

    Hows THAT for a slogan?

    ;)

A horrible vote. Investors take risks and should live with the result when those risks result in a loss. But since we’re a feel good society now, noone should have to go through adversity whether it’s a natural disaster, job loss or a Wall St. Meltdown. Instead the government should sweep in and clean up the mess, create jobs and bailout risk takers. Pathetic.

Well John, just think what Obama will bring us with a Democrat Congress…. Your wallet will not be big enough….. Oh, that is right the government will be taking most of it so you will only need a small coin purse…… What is sad is this is not even the tip of the iceberg. As they say, “You have not seen nothin yet!”

  7. Possible failure is ALWAYS an option. With the passage of this bill and the inevitable inflation that it will cause - it may be the ONLY option left.

May those who voted for the bill be voted out of office.

  8. If we wanted someone else in Souder’s seat we should have replaced him in the primary. Ohh, that’s right I forgot that the primary was already chosen by the power players in the party.

If we want real “change”, we need to replace the party leadership in this county. The mayoral election taught me that.

Like it or not, he is our nominee. I will take Souder again over the hairdo from Indy any day.

  9. The only “change” Obama will bring is what will be left in our pockets after he takes his cut!

  10. Mark Souder needs to be “retired.”

    Mike Sylvester

  11. Mike: I couldn’t agree more with retiring Mark Souder.

FW Conservative: He may be the Republican candidate, but he is not “our” candidate. He votes against conservative principles and in doing so against us. The way I see it Montagano will be much easier to vote out in the next election than Souder will.

    My $0.02

  12. Vote no to Mark Souder. Souder is finished here in Northeast IN.

Vote for William Larsen or The other of the lesser evils.

  13. Well, if you remember he lost Allen County last election. That should be a sign right there.

  14. Souder is an idiot. Just saw him on C-SPAN. He was interviewing a Hedge Fund panel and couldn’t resist attacking George Soros about issues not related to the topic. Hey, I’m sorry Obama won your state. Im sorry. Ask Jesus what to do about it, but don’t attack Soros because you’re pissed about the election.
