I’d vote for the guy on the bottom, not only because (imho) he “fills the bill” as to what I think of this whole mess, but he curiously looks like of the panhandlers in our area that collects aluminum cans…!
Imagine that.
All I can say is…wow. I hope someone’s job was put in jeopardy. We have Mad Ants and Tin Caps…I’m speechless…
You have GOT to be kiding me!!!!!!!!! This was the best name/mascot we could come up with out of ALL the suggestions?????? This is pathetic…
uh… Tincaps? looks more like pot heads! lol
Green Bay has the Cheese Heads. Fort Wayne will have the Pot Heads including the ones that came up with this name as well as the name Mad Ants.
We will be the laugh of of minor league sports. Sober up and go back to the Wizards.
What a joke! I will not be attending any Tip Cap games. I thought revitalization meant we were going to have something Fresh, New and Exciting to celebrate downtown. What a pathetic mess. I live on the South Side of Fort Wayne and was looking forward with excitement to the new stadium being downtown. I no longer feel that way. I’m dissapointed that we will be the laughing stock of the league. The logo designs are ameteur and I can’t believe we paid a firm out of state when we have quite capable artists and designers here in Fort Wayne. I really believe the public as a whole would agree with me. No one in their right mind, left mind or insane mind would have chosen the name Tin Caps or the logo. Plus, the damn thing would have had more meaning at the old location next to the park. The ballpark is now going to be downtown, get it. This logo is just a sour reminder that the park was relocated away from the site of Johnny Appleseed against the wishes of many community members, fans and taxpayers. How sad it is that the new ballpark has become a pathetic mess.
The TIN CAPS??? Wow……. looks more like the POT HEADS, or maybe the MAD APPLES. I mean, we have the MAD ANTS, why not the MAD APPLES? Argh….
The Pot Heads at The Park! What a joke! That is the best they could do?
Yep…we’re now OFFICALLY worse off than those “Lugnuts”.
ROFLMAO!
I wouldn’t be caught dead going down there to watch the Tin Caps or is it Pot Heads!!!Ha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Whom ever said That’s a great name! needs to be fires!
I can’t believe they didn’t choose my entry… the Fort Wayne Boondoggles.
It’s better than the Tincaps and at least everyone will understand the inspiration thereof.
PS The Boondoggles. And a mascot of a taxpayer with his pockets inside out being chased by an out of touch, insane beaurocrat.
or perhaps the CFIs: as in complete …… idiots
I dont need to add anything, everyone eles has said everything thier is too say
I’m dead serious… I want to know WHO came up with it and WHO approved it!! We need to hold people responsible for this type of stupidity!! WE are paying for this stadium….WE should be able to veto this irresponsible and ignorant decision. The “Tin Caps”. Who? Why? It’s just bizarre! It’s as if they are TRYING to make us look like fools!
That is it the Parkview Panhandlers!!! I love it.
The Tin Caps is lame, retarded and a few other choice words!!
i like the logo but the nickname is embarrising. i dont even know how many people i will have to explain what a tincap is. who ever made this decision should be stoned with apples and be hit with a pan. :p
Ok, we all forgot the obvious name/theme for the Tin Caps.
If I only had a brain!!! (Tin Man)
Since the new name is stinkin’ Fort Wayne might have another Lincoln (Museam SILENT, FOR REFERENCE ONLY) and the team might just go away!!!!!!!
dododododo
This logo and name is an embarrassment to the people, the history and the establishment of Fort Wayne. The tin caps and the mad ants. WHO is coming up with this poor marketing? It isn’t funny. This could have built the community and helped developed Fort Wayne’s identity. The opportunity is lost.
Is this truly the best you can do for Fort Wayne? Where is the sense of brand identity?
Do you think baseball and basketball players will want to play for ridiculous named sports organizations? Ants and Tin Cans. These are wrong for branding a city’s nationally marketed sports teams. Fort Wayne needs help with their identity! These names do not build a sense of “Fort Wayne”. Humiliating for the people of Fort Wayne and players.
Tin Caps is actually quite Ridiculous. How much did we pay this out of state firm. Are we sure they are not from Outer Space. If you spell Tin Caps backwards, you actually get a better name, SPAC NIT
Although anything would be better than Tin Caps
I want to throw-up! Sports figures are supposed to be imposing!
San Francisco Giants!
Cleveland Indians!
Pittsburgh Pirates!
Even Wizards could work ‘magic’ on the playing field!
Some one better wake up, get our half million dollars back and send this PR organization packing to California! before Fort Wayne citizens show up with torches and pitchforks!
No more excusses or rationalizations, get the bums responisble out of town now!

Good point! Maybe this whole idea was thought up by the opposition from the league! Competing teams want our club to be under physiological disadvantage, to be a loosing team with a loosing name and having a looser for a mascot; this name has definitely as done that! We are sunk as a ball club.

What a horrible name! 1st, it’s a myth that Johnny Appleseed even wore a pot, and 2nd, Tin Caps is also a name for LSD! I thought the Wizards was bad…this is just straight up stupid.
It appears to be unanimous that this name is horrible. Have not heard anyone say it is a good name, in fact it’s embarrassing!
What can we the fans do about this? I was planning on going to many games, but now not sure if I want to…
I know it’s only a name, but it stinks!
Can I throw out the first apple?
uhhh….how about the fort wayne FREELOADERS
As if there were not enough people to say it already…from now on we will all be known as the Fort Wayne Pot-Heads. Now, seriously, is a reference to drugs something to be proud of? …much less something we will all have to painfully explain to our children.
There has been considerable time gone by now with comments and suggestions
regarding the extremely bad choice of the name ‘Tin Caps’. The people responsible for this surely will have enough moxie to reconsider. Consider this:
Fort Wayne Johnny’s ( keeping with John Chapman’s legacy.
Fort Wayne Ground Hogs ( base ball is a ‘ground game’ so to speak and the mascot and logo ideas are unlimited. ground Hogs are very common in the region.
Come on, people! Let’s be real here. If a name of a team is going to keep everyone from supporting the team, then Fort Wayne does not desire no baseball team, no Hockey team, nothing! I bet that the logo and name will be the highest gross mechadise for the Minor Leauges for years to come, why: ITS ORIGINAL! The city desire something fresh, different from everyone else because the city needs a fun, exciting identity. Downtown will start to be a downtown again and the name will promote that progress, more so than then the northern Fort Wayne getting more congested and South Side being ignored and the downtown area becoming a ghost town! Triple A minor league team, the Albuquerque Isotopes, chose their name from “The Simpson” cartoon episode and they have sold more hats, bats, and other items in Minor League history since the change in name! Wake up people, there is more in life to get upset over an name of the team than spending a summer day in the heart of your city and watching baseball with an original name (Wizards is used by 4 sporting teams, and Bulldog, Tigers, and other dumb animals are old and ancient) with your family and experience a rebirth to Fort Wayne.
You are right B.J… after hearing all the complaining about the name I now like it… but the bad thing about it all is the stadium itself… all this constant pursuit by the city for the “next piece of the puzzle” (when will it end) that will make downtown work when they are going about it all wrong… What needs to be done is stop trying to make downtown something its not and instead make it something that it can be… In other words be more realistic… In a one word explanation of the above I submit the word “condos”..
Where is Graham Richard to guide us through our adolescence (his quote re: the people of Fort Wayne)? Well, he won’t be guiding us from a condo… How about if you are going to push something like that to buy a condo and live in it and live what you believe with your heart and soul? That’s what a lot of us do in our lives…. or try to…
I mean, sure, you don’t know what its like to be in someone else’s shoes and understand what they are dealing with (G.R.’s not mayor anymore of course)… props to Tom Henry on the willingness to buy a condo, but I’m sorry… I think if I were the former mayor I would have bought an effing condo…. or maybe he just doesn’t care:
