Baron Hill’s paranoia of bloggers has gotten to the point of downright stupid. Hoosier Pundit is reporting that on top of the BS “accredited media” requirement..

NO blogger

“Only credentialed media will be permitted to record– audibly and visually– at Congressman Baron Hill’s official events. Credentialed media are those members of the media associated with major news outlets, their affiliates or recognized television, radio or print sources”

Now comes this.

From the News & Tribune

Congressman Baron Hill will host a discussion on gas prices, the housing market and health care from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 5, at the Paul W. Ogle Cultural and Community Center at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany. The event is open to the public, but due to limited seating, those interested are asked to reserve a space by calling Hill’s Jeffersonville office at 812-288-3999.

What a boatload of bullshit, eh?

From Hoosier Pundit:

The simple fact is–given the unfriendly responses he is getting from average constituents at his town halls and other events–that Baron appears to be trying to restrict his audiences to a yet-smaller handful of friendly yes-men.

He really doesn’t want to hear from his constituents–from the voters–about the economy or anything else. That’s why they’re now limiting access to these events.

First it was publicly-declaring limitations on recording at events, then it was an unwritten policy (with staff warnings at the events), then it was limiting them in writing at the events themselves.

Now they have moved to limit who can attend at all.

He might as well just limit the town halls to his staff and have them in Washington, D.C.

Baron needs to have his paranoia treated by a psychiatrist.

Ditto to that.

The Town Hall meetings are in a public facility and personally, I don’t see how he can decide who records and who doesn’t. Any lawyers out there care to comment?
