Earlier this week, 911 dispatch received a call where the complainant that their neighbor was letting freon out of an air conditioner and it was going to kill the ozone. Sheesh.
I looked at Indiana Code, this was all I could find:
IC 35-46-6-2
Inhaling toxic vapors
Sec. 2. A person who, with intent to cause a condition of intoxication, euphoria, excitement, exhilaration, stupefaction, or dulling of the senses, ingests or inhales the fumes of:
(1) model glue; or
(2) a substance that contains:
(A) toluene;
(B) acetone;
(C) benzene;
(D) N-butyl nitrite;
(E) any aliphatic nitrite, unless prescribed by a physician;
(F) butane;
(G) amyl butrate;
(H) isobutyl nitrate;
(I) freon;
I could not find anything else. I did find this, by Greg Perry.

You know, I bet the police could get a lot more done if people would quit calling about stupis s**t like this. For example, last week I called to tell them that an eighteen year old drug dealer was buying a gun from someone right in front of my home. Then, just a couple nights ago, I called to tell them a blue van (like the one they were searching for in connection with the hit and run death of a two year old child) was driving eratically(high speed, with headlights off) and seemed to be trying to evade the police who were patrolling here at the time.
Luckily for the residents of this city, the police just ignored both these calls. I mean, how is FWPD supposed to find the time to protect the ozone when people like me are making frivolous calls about gun-toting drug dealers and child killers.
Hey, I know for a fact that FWPD reads my blog. When I make charges like this against them, I think their lack of a response is very telling about their attitude towards crime in the city.

Yes, but think of all the polar bears this guy coulda just killed. I mean, the climate models show just how bad stuff like this can rally be. Just because the polar bear population has shot up ~400% since the 60’s, and the polar icecaps are at record highs, and the sun is cooling down, does not mean that we should just ignore the garbage in/ gospel out climate models. I think this guy should be reported to the environmental feds right away and locked up for life.
Hey, if these people (not technicians in any way) want to let loose some freon, have at it.
I’m still trying to get the whole “ozone damaging-reclamation” thing down…don’t ask me WHY.
I STILL can’t figure out how something HEAVIER THAN AIR (freon) can get up into our UPPER atmosphere and f$ck up the ozone.
Is someone flying it up there?
I’ve worked with the stuff (in gas AND liquid form)…both the R-12 AND the R-22. And we purged all the time into the air, until the tree-huggers got together and screwed that up.
We “could” get rid of the freon AND these stupid-asses one way…tell them to add a FLAME to the freon when they purge it…!
(That creates PHOSGENE gas - deadly to living things - used in WW1 with great success)
(Yeah…Dan REALLY wants to see my “resume” now)

The list of stoopid shit pushed through with no regard to the “unintended consequences” is so long you could never list it all.
freon ban
low flow toilets
ddt ban
light bulb ban
ethanol
welfare
medicare
gasoline additives
smoking bans
cigarette taxes
it just goes on and on and on
You know, a couple stupid laws really doesn’t hurt anyting. It’s just when there becomes so many of them (see Tim Zank’s list above) that it really becomes burdensome. Perhaps we should pass a law that limits the total number of stupid laws that can be on the books at any one time. Whenever a new stupid law is passed, the furthest one down on the list automatically gets bumped.
Of course, with the myriad of federal, state and local legislatures and other agencies passing these stupid laws, we’d need to form a special department just to monitor all of them.
Now Phil…making a law to limit stupid laws is really…well, stupid….but wait a sec…then THAT stupid law would go to the TOP of the stupid law list…right?
OMG…Problem solved.
By George, you’ve stumbled upon the perfect answer, Phil!!!
I say we vote him in as an indepedent candidate for President, but I’m sure that last name would raise more than a few eyebrows…
(no one in the family named KARL…right? Just checking.)
