First I’ll thank Tracy for giving our new group some coverage.
Conservatives meet
A group of area conservatives has begun a weekly breakfast meeting to meet like-minded citizens and hear more about issues of interest to them. The breakfast club was convened by Jim Banks, the Whitley County GOP chairman and Linda Buskirk’s campaign manager in her 2003 mayoral run.
The group had its third meeting Monday, Banks said, with Micah Clark, president of the American Family Association of Indiana, whose anti-Tom Henry radio ad last fall was criticized for its anti-gay language. Cam Savage, the media relations chief for Daniels’ re-election campaign, is on tap for next Monday, and Allen County GOP Chairman Steve Shine is also lined up for a future meeting.
“It’s not a party group,” Banks said. “There’s no agenda,” he added, other than serving as a place for conservatives to meet.
The weekly meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. Mondays at Park Place on Main, a restaurant owned by conservative businessman and GOP contributor Bill Bean, who’s attended two of the meetings.
We have a blog for the group which we’ve just started at www.conservativebreakfastclub.com. Currently we only have schedules posted. Content and new writers will soon follow. To point out one discrepancy..
The group had its third meeting Monday, Banks said, with Micah Clark, president of the American Family Association of Indiana, whose anti-Tom Henry radio ad last fall was criticized for its anti-gay language.
While I know this is a mere technicality, AFA of Indiana did not run those ads, the American Family Association of Indiana P.A.C. placed the ads, which is a separately governed, funded and different legal entity. Mr. Clark was addressing our group as president of AFA of Indiana, not a representative of the AFA PAC.
The portion of the ad Mr. Warner and other lefties took issue with was this:
As a City Councilman, Tom Henry repeatedly authored legislation promoting the gay rights agenda. Several homosexual groups are supporting Henry, including the Human Rights Campaign — an advocate for same-sex marriage.
Hey, it was just stating the facts.

What I would take exception to is referring to at least two of the people who attended as conservatives…
A conservative should be one who beleives in SMALLER Government.
