Donaghy_and_slave_boyNotorious Indianapolis dominatrix and political activist Melyssa Donaghy plans on seeking the Libertarian Party’s nod to run for Julia Carson’s 7th district house seat. Carson died on December 7th, 2007 after a long illness.

In November of 2005 the city of Indianapolis asked the courts to shut down her bondage and discipline business stating it violated zoning regulations. The business was ran out of Donaghy’s Suburban Indianapolis home. An agreement was struck in September of 2007 and Donaghy agreed to no longer operate it out of her home. A video report from The Denver Channel can be seen here.

Yesterday Donaghy petitioned the Libertarian Party’s central committee seeking support to run for Carson’s seat.

Jan 10th, 2007

Greetings:

I seek your nod for me to run as the 7th District candidate for Congress.  If I run I plan to win and can put a team around me to create campaign out of the gate.  I am prepared to hit the ground running and have a history of winning the battles I choose.  My supporters are across party lines.

I realize some of you may not know me well. I am a  Libertarian since 2003 and know Mark Rutherford, Sean Shepard, Robert Butler, Tim & Allison Maguire, Mike Kole, and Andy Horning. I also try to give funds to Libertarian candidates that work hard.  I am, of course, a big fan of both Tim Maguire and Mike Kole.

[…]

While I have absolutely no political experience, I think this will work to my advantage because people throughout our city are fed up with the status quo politicians.

Well, I don’t know about you but having a woman that is also a dominatrix as a house representative is a bit scary, no?

The local connection

Donaghy is employed by Angie’s List, an Indianapolis-based membership service that compiles consumer ratings of local service companies and contractors in multiple cities across the United States. Angie’s List founder Angie Hicks is a native of Fort Wayne. Angie’s list Chief Executive Officer Bill Oesterle took a leave of absence to manage Mitch Daniels’ campaign for governor.

Donaghy promoted her business at her now closed web site, TheReformatory.com, providing chastity key holder services, professional domination, public caging sessions and feminization. An archived version of the site may be found here, (loads slowly).

  1. Kody Tinnel says:

People like this only hurt the Libertarian Party and are one of the many reasons big “L” Libertarians will not win any major elections in the next few decades, if ever.

  2. tim zank says:

Kody…Isn’t it contradictory on your part to fervently support Ron Paul, but dismiss this lady as a candidate just because of her vocation?

  3. Kody Tinnel says:

Ron Paul is a doctor, and has many years of political experience. He is a good candidate. And he runs with one of the two major parties.

This dominatrix is too out there to win in most types of governmental elections. And she is running with the Libertarian Party.

I am not sure if I understand what you are trying to get at.

  4. tim zank says:

He’s a nut, she’s a nut. I just assumed she’d have as good a shot as him at elective office with your party.

  5. roach says:

I’d rather vote for a kinky, freaky nut who merely indulges men in their own fantasies( is that mark souder in the latex, with the leash? hmm. I wonder- he’s soooo repressed. mkaes you wonder what other FANTASY SPORTS congressman souder indulges in?)anf gets paid BIG bucks for- No Wal-mart greeter/Mc donalds/factory jobs/truck drivers for this chick.
She says she knows a lot of men. Im sure of that. discretion assured.
I’m sure she’d be really popular in Washington DC, and would fit right in.
I could say something about political prostitution too.
But Id never vote for anybody whos either a Religious Fundamentalist extremist nut; a closeted, hypocritical RFE nut(recent megachurch preachers, wide-stanced congressmen, etc come to mind. and especially any kool-aid drinking cultist nuts.
“will campaign in rubber suit for dominatrix congresswoman in exchange for staffer job on Hill”. call me!

  6. What is all this? Why are you throwing vitriol against a person you don’t know, and who isn’t even a candidate?
Do any of you honestly believe that the sins you apply to this woman are as bad as those who currently hold the reigns and chains of power?
If any of you have even a shred of Christian compassion or libertarian laissez faire in you, then shame, shame on you.

  7. Terry Walsh says:

Donaghy’s political activism is solely and entirely a manifestation of her aberrant need to obtain psycho-sexual gratification through the domination and humiliation of males. Any situation in which she is not absolutely dominant over any and all males cause her psycho-emotional pain. She perceived herself as being defeated by a male, Bart Peterson, when her dungeon was shut down, so she suddenly became this high-profile leader in the anti-Bart movement. She certainly doesn’t care at all about anyone but herself, as her constant attempts at self-aggrandisment demonstrate. Any involvement she may have had with libertarianism isn’t surprising: she fits right in with the sociopathic greedheads!

  8. So you have a picture of her with a guy on a leash. There are pictures of Rudy Guiliani in a dress. There is eccentric and there is crazy. When you are eccentric, everyone knows about it. But you can be crazy and keep it to yourself.

I do not know enough about this woman to endorse her, but I don’t think being a dominatrix disqualifies her anymore than being a lesbian disqualifies Tina Taviano. I will concede that lesbianism and SM will hurt a candidate’s chances though.

  9. Tim,
Nut or not, if her chances at elected office are as good as Ron Paul’s, then she is a shoo-in.

In addition to the presidency, Ron Paul is seeking re-election to Congress, the same body that Ms. Donaghy seeks to be a part of.

  10. Aeon says:

Her disdain is not limited to men, as indicated above. It’s really more about anyone who stands in her way. So she now fashions herself a freedom fighter and heaven knows she is effective or maybe in this case, affective. Still, isn’t it perhaps odd that Andrew Horning should beg Christian Compassion for her?

Oh, to be so naive again!
