Al Sheldon was a wonderful guy. He was my neighbor and I got to know him a little over the last 10 years. He was always an optimistic person and never had a bad thing to say about anyone. We worked together on our neighborhood association and with Al’s help successfully stopped large retail developments from entering Point Inverness, which backs up to our addition. We also participated in Cub Scouts with our two sons and Al never missed a meeting.
Al lost a battle to cancer on Monday. I had not seen him since last fall when he passed by my house while out for a walk with his wife.
Mr. Sheldon accomplished a great deal in his short life. In 1992, he was distinguished as a “Sagamore of the Wabash” by then Governor Evan Bayh.
As a principle at MSKTD Associates Al served as Director of Operations and President/Treasurer and was a Registered Architect in 20 states, and is a Registered Engineer in two states.
Al was always involved in local community service by serving on not-for-profit boards. He was currently serving as Vice-Chairman / Facilities Committee for the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. He also was past President of Three Rivers Montessori School and past Member of the Board of the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Wayne Ballet.
